The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has constituted a 156-member campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections, bringing Governor Dapo Abiodun and former governors Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun into key positions within the party’s campaign structure.
The campaign council, contained in an official list signed by the Ogun State APC Chairman, Yemi Sanusi, places Abiodun as Chairman of the campaign council. The party’s 2027 governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, was named Co-Chairman, while former Senator representing Ogun East, Lekan Mustapha, was appointed Director-General.
Osoba, a former governor of the state and APC national leader, was named Grand Patron, while Daniel and Amosun, both former Ogun governors, were designated Deputy Grand Patrons.
The council also includes Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele and the party’s Deputy Governorship candidate, Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, as Deputy Chairmen. Sanusi will serve as Vice Chairman, while the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, and Minister of State for Health, Kunle Salako, were named Vice Directors-General responsible for campaign operations and administration respectively.
The campaign structure is expected to coordinate the party’s mobilisation and organisational activities across Ogun State ahead of the elections. Its responsibilities cover areas including grassroots mobilisation, media and publicity, logistics, contact and mobilisation, as well as engagement with women and young people.
The campaign structure also extends across Ogun’s 20 local government areas, with committees assigned responsibilities for different aspects of the party’s electoral activities.
The APC state leadership said the committees were constituted to strengthen the party’s structures and improve coordination ahead of the 2027 elections. Members of the campaign council are expected to work collectively towards the party’s stated objective of securing victory for its candidates across the various elective positions.
The composition of the council brings together serving government officials, former governors, party leaders and other political stakeholders. The inclusion of Osoba, Daniel and Amosun alongside Abiodun places several prominent figures from Ogun’s political history within the same campaign structure.
The development comes as the APC continues its preparations for the 2027 elections in Ogun State. The party will have to coordinate its campaign organisation across the state’s three senatorial districts, 20 local government areas and grassroots structures as the electoral process progresses.
The formation of the campaign council marks the formal establishment of the APC’s statewide campaign machinery, with attention now expected to shift towards mobilisation, communication, candidate engagement and other campaign activities ahead of the elections.
