The opening weeks of the 2026/27 European football season have already produced a number of impressive individual performances, with several established stars and unexpected names making their mark in front of goal.
A ranking published by Planet Football compares players across Europe’s top five leagues — the Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1 — based on their combined goals and assists so far this season. Where players have the same number of goal contributions, their contribution-per-minute figures are used to separate them.
Barcelona forward Raphinha currently leads the list with nine goal contributions, having scored six goals and provided three assists. His early-season form has made him one of the most productive attackers in Europe's major leagues, while his growing partnership with Lamine Yamal has also attracted attention.
Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé is also on nine goal contributions, with seven goals and two assists. He is level with Raphinha on total contributions but sits second in the ranking based on the criteria used for the list. Mbappé recently added another goal and an assist during Real Madrid's 3-2 victory over Elche.
Here is the full top 10:
Raphinha has made an impressive start to the campaign and currently tops the ranking. The Brazilian has taken on an increasingly important attacking role for Barcelona and has combined goalscoring with creativity.
Mbappé has been particularly prolific in front of goal, with seven strikes making him the leading goalscorer among the players on this list. His latest contribution came in Real Madrid's win over Elche.
Camello is one of the surprise names among the leading players. The Rayo Vallecano forward has scored six league goals, matching his previous best tally in the competition in the early stages of the new campaign.
The experienced striker has enjoyed an impressive opening to the season, scoring in every appearance so far according to the ranking. At 37, his return to the list represents one of the notable individual stories of the opening weeks.
Malen has scored six goals without registering an assist, but his efficiency stands out. He has reached that total in just 255 minutes, averaging a goal every 42 minutes according to the figures used for the ranking.
Mariano has produced one of the more unexpected starts to the season. The former Real Madrid striker has already matched the combined league goals and assists he recorded across the previous seven seasons, according to Planet Football's figures.
João Pedro is the only Premier League player in the top 10. The Chelsea forward has scored and assisted in three of his four appearances so far, giving him an even split of three goals and three assists.
Fermín López has also made a strong start for Barcelona, contributing four goals and two assists. His performances have added another attacking option to the Spanish club's squad.
Yamal has started the campaign with six La Liga goals. Although he had yet to record a league assist when the ranking was compiled, he had already supplied two assists in the Champions League.
Espanyol's Roberto Fernández completes the top 10 after scoring six goals in the opening weeks of the season. He began his campaign with a brace against Levante and followed it with further goals against Real Sociedad, Osasuna and Rayo Vallecano.
With Raphinha and Mbappé separated only by the ranking criteria despite both having nine goal contributions, the early-season numbers show how closely matched some of Europe's leading attackers are. The presence of players such as Camello, Malen, Mariano and Fernández also highlights how quickly the standings can change during the early stages of a long campaign.
The figures are only a snapshot of the 2026/27 season so far, and the rankings are expected to change as more league matches are played. For now, however, Raphinha and Mbappé occupy the top two positions, while Barcelona have three players among the 10 leading goal contributors.
