Police Arrest 32 Suspects, Recover 10 Rifles in Plateau Security Operations

The Plateau State Police Command has announced the arrest of 32 suspects and the recovery of 10 rifles during a series of security operations aimed at tackling criminal activities across the state.

The command said the operations were carried out by its tactical teams and other security units following intelligence-led efforts to identify and disrupt criminal networks operating in different parts of Plateau State.

According to the police, the operations led to the recovery of 10 firearms, including rifles, alongside other items linked to suspected criminal activities. The command said the arrested suspects are undergoing investigation to determine their individual involvement in the alleged offences.

The police stated that the operations formed part of ongoing efforts to improve security, prevent violent crimes and reduce the circulation of illegal weapons within the state.

The Plateau State Police Command said intelligence gathering and cooperation from residents had continued to play an important role in identifying criminal activities and supporting security operations.

The Commissioner of Police in Plateau State commended officers involved in the operations and urged residents to continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in maintaining peace and protecting communities.

The command also assured residents that investigations would be conducted before suspects are charged to court where sufficient evidence is established.

Security operations have continued across Plateau State in recent months as authorities respond to concerns over armed attacks, illegal weapons possession and other security challenges.

Authorities have repeatedly warned that the possession and movement of illegal firearms contribute to insecurity and have intensified efforts to remove unauthorised weapons from circulation.

The police said the latest arrests and recoveries represent part of broader measures to strengthen security across Plateau State, while investigations into the suspects and recovered items continue.
