An aide to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has dismissed reports alleging that the governor and his political team are involved in anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
The controversy comes amid growing political tensions within the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, with disagreements emerging among party stakeholders over political alliances and the direction of the party ahead of the next general elections.
The aide rejected claims suggesting that Aiyedatiwa was working against the APC or secretly supporting political interests outside the party. He described the allegations as unfounded and politically motivated attempts to create division within the ruling party.
The governor's camp maintained that Aiyedatiwa remains committed to the APC and its leadership, insisting that his political activities should not be interpreted as evidence of disloyalty to the party.
The dispute follows accusations and counter-accusations involving supporters of the governor and other prominent political figures in Ondo. The situation has generated concern among party members as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
Aiyedatiwa has previously faced similar allegations during internal APC disagreements. In February, he denied claims that he sponsored individuals to disrupt an APC stakeholders' meeting in Akure, saying supporters of different aspirants were responsible for the disturbance.
The governor urged party members at the time to remain calm and united, stressing the importance of maintaining cohesion within the APC.
The latest denial is expected to further fuel discussions about the political direction of Ondo APC as different factions position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
For now, Aiyedatiwa's camp insists that the governor remains firmly within the APC and has no involvement in any anti-party arrangement.
