The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports that it withdrew the recently released list of members of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, describing the reports as rumours.
The clarification was issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, following reports that the ruling party had pulled back the campaign council list for possible review.
Morka said there had been no official withdrawal of the list, stressing that the APC would formally announce any changes if the party eventually decides to alter the composition of the campaign council.
Speaking on the matter, the APC spokesman described the reports as rumours and urged the public not to treat unconfirmed information about the campaign council as an official party decision.
“It’s rumour. If there is any change to the list, it will be formally announced,” Morka said.
His comments came amid growing speculation surrounding the campaign council after the APC unveiled its structure as part of preparations for the 2027 presidential election. The development has attracted considerable attention within the party and among political observers because of the number of prominent political figures included in the council as well as the absence of some other influential party members.
The reports of a possible withdrawal emerged shortly after the campaign council list was made public, with speculation that the party could review some of the appointments following reactions from party stakeholders and concerns over the composition of the structure. However, the APC has now made it clear that no withdrawal has been officially announced.
Under the structure announced by the party, President Bola Tinubu is the Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda were named Vice Chairmen.
Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was appointed Director-General of the campaign council, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was named Secretary. The appointments are part of the APC’s broader preparations for the 2027 presidential contest, in which Tinubu is seeking another term.
The composition of the council has nevertheless generated debate. Some party members and political stakeholders have questioned why certain prominent figures were included while others were left out. The reactions have contributed to speculation that the party could reconsider parts of the list.
Morka, however, maintained that speculation should not be confused with an official decision by the party. He stressed that if the APC decides to make adjustments to the council, such changes would be communicated through the party’s recognised channels rather than through rumours or unofficial reports.
The controversy comes as political activities surrounding the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum. With the APC preparing for Tinubu’s re-election campaign, the structure and membership of the Presidential Campaign Council are expected to remain under close public and political scrutiny.
The party’s latest clarification therefore means that, for now, the recently released campaign council list remains the official list, as there has been no formal announcement of its withdrawal.
Morka also warned against relying on unverified reports concerning the council, reiterating that the APC would make any future changes known publicly. Until such an announcement is made, the party maintains that reports of the withdrawal of Tinubu’s 2027 campaign council list are unfounded.
The development is likely to further fuel discussions within political circles as the APC works to consolidate its structure ahead of the 2027 presidential election and coordinate its campaign activities across the country.
