The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled Saturday, August 22, 2026, for its primary elections to select candidates for restored State House of Assembly constituencies and upcoming legislative bye-elections.
The primaries will cover four restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, as well as legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.
According to the timetable released by the party, the exercise follows the restoration of four previously suppressed constituencies in Delta and Kogi.
The APC said the sale of expression-of-interest and nomination forms began on August 18 and will continue until August 20. Completed forms and the required documents must also be submitted by August 20.
For State House of Assembly aspirants, the party fixed the expression-of-interest fee at N1 million and the nomination fee at N5 million, bringing the total to N6 million.
House of Representatives aspirants are required to pay N1 million for the expression-of-interest form and N9 million for the nomination form, making a total of N10 million.
The party also provided concessions for female, youth and physically challenged aspirants, who are required to pay the full expression-of-interest fee and 50 per cent of the prescribed nomination fee.
The upcoming primaries are expected to determine the APC candidates who will contest the affected legislative seats in the various constituencies and states.
The development comes as political parties continue preparations for legislative contests and other electoral activities ahead of Nigeria's broader political calendar.
