Popular Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Odinaka, better known as Poco Lee, is expected to appear before a London court on September 15, 2026, over an alleged assault offence.
The development was disclosed by Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of a Nigerian community organisation in the United Kingdom. Kuti said Poco Lee is currently being held on remand in a UK prison and is scheduled to appear before Snaresbrook Crown Court at 10am on September 15.
According to Kuti, the September appearance is expected to be a plea hearing, during which Poco Lee would be given an opportunity to indicate whether he intends to plead guilty or not guilty to the allegation.
Kuti said he was aware of the development because of his regular attendance at court proceedings and his involvement in supporting Nigerians facing legal difficulties in the United Kingdom.
“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison. His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing,” Kuti said.
He also said he intends to attend the proceedings to provide support to Poco Lee and other members of the Nigerian community who may require assistance during legal proceedings.
Kuti urged members of the public not to prejudge the case, stressing that the legal process should be allowed to take its course and that an allegation does not amount to a conviction.
“It is important that we allow the legal process to take its course. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” he said.
Reports concerning Poco Lee's alleged detention in the UK first began circulating online on August 19, 2026.
