Real Madrid forward Yan Diomande has expressed his strong admiration for manager José Mourinho, saying he is ready to give everything for the Portuguese coach.
The Ivorian youngster revealed that his first conversation with Mourinho left a strong impression on him. He said Mourinho even got out of bed around 5am in Portugal to speak with him during their initial contact.
Diomande said he believes he can learn a great deal from Mourinho because of the manager's experience and personality.
“When you play for José Mourinho, you want to DIE for him. I am ready to die for him.”
Drogba Also Advised Him
The young forward also revealed that he spoke with Didier Drogba before joining Real Madrid and asked the former Chelsea striker about Mourinho.
According to Diomande, Drogba advised him to remain focused and maintain his position because he believes the youngster has enormous potential.
The Ivorian said Mourinho's personality could help young players remain focused rather than trying to do too much on the pitch.
No Fear Over Huge Transfer Fee
Despite the enormous financial investment involved in his transfer, Diomande insisted that he does not feel pressured.
Real Madrid reportedly signed the Ivory Coast international from RB Leipzig in a deal that could reach €140 million (£120 million), with the teenager agreeing to a seven-year contract.
Diomande said the transfer fee simply demonstrates that Real Madrid believe in his ability.
He added that he intends to concentrate on playing his football and allowing his performances to justify the club's confidence in him.
The teenager's comments underline the excitement surrounding his arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu as he prepares to begin his Real Madrid career under Mourinho.
