Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, has rewarded a student who achieved an outstanding performance in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination with a N1 million cash gift.
The student, Delight Amayaenvbo, earned straight As in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, an achievement that attracted the attention of the deputy governor.
Idahosa described the student's result as a product of hard work, discipline and determination, saying the achievement had brought pride to his family and Edo State.
The deputy governor said the financial reward was intended not only to recognise Delight's exceptional academic performance but also to encourage other young people across the state to take their education seriously.
He urged students to remain focused on their studies and strive for excellence, noting that academic success could create opportunities for young people and contribute to the development of Edo State.
Idahosa said celebrating students who excel academically was important because it could motivate others to work harder and pursue their educational goals.
Delight's father, Charity Amayaenvbo, expressed appreciation to the deputy governor for recognising his son's achievement. He described the gesture as a major encouragement to the family and prayed that it would inspire more young people to pursue academic excellence.
