Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been declared the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,815 votes.
The result was formally declared on Sunday morning by the State Returning Officer, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, at the state collation centre.
Adeleke Wins 19 LGAs
According to the final results announced by INEC, Adeleke won in 19 of Osun State's 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11 LGAs.
Adeleke recorded victories in areas including Ede North, Ede South, Ejigbo, Iwo, Egbedore, Ife North, Ife East, Ife Central, Oriade, Ifelodun, Orolu, Ayedaade, Ayedire, Odo Otin, Boluwaduro, Ilesa West, Ifedayo, Osogbo and Ayedire.
Oyebamiji, meanwhile, secured victories in Irewole, Isokan, Olorunda, Atakumosa East, Atakumosa West, Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun and Obokun.
Final Vote Figures
INEC reported a total of 1,005,800 votes cast, with 985,079 valid votes recorded and 207 rejected votes.
The leading candidates recorded:
- Ademola Adeleke (Accord): 511,067 votes
- Bola Oyebamiji (APC): 444,815 votes
- Najeem Salaam (ADC): 17,180 votes
A total of 15 political parties participated in the election.
Adeleke Returned for Another Term
After the results from the local government areas had been collated and party agents signed the result sheets, the Returning Officer declared Adeleke the winner and returned him to office for another term.
The declaration brings an end to the closely watched Osun governorship election, which attracted significant attention across Nigeria.
The result also marks another major political contest in Osun State, with the incumbent governor successfully securing another term despite a strong challenge from the APC.
