The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent online recruitment notice claiming that the commission has begun recruiting and training ad-hoc staff ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The warning followed the circulation of a message online directing prospective applicants to a website presented as an official INEC recruitment platform. The electoral commission, however, said the notice and the website did not originate from it.
INEC urged members of the public not to click on the circulated link, submit personal information, upload documents or make any payment through the platform. The commission warned that doing so could expose unsuspecting applicants to fraud or the misuse of their personal information.
According to INEC, genuine recruitment exercises and election-related announcements are communicated through its verified channels and official websites. Nigerians seeking information about recruitment or preparations for the 2027 elections have therefore been advised to rely only on these official sources.
The commission's latest warning is not the first time Nigerians have been cautioned about fake INEC recruitment websites. Earlier in 2026, similar fraudulent platforms were circulated online, prompting warnings that unauthorised recruitment links should not be trusted.
INEC has urged members of the public to disregard and avoid sharing the latest fake recruitment notice. The commission also encouraged Nigerians to verify online job advertisements before providing personal details or making payments.
The development comes as preparations and public interest surrounding the 2027 General Election continue to grow, creating opportunities for scammers to exploit people seeking temporary electoral employment.
For now, Nigerians interested in working as INEC ad-hoc personnel are advised to wait for official recruitment announcements and use only platforms confirmed by the electoral commission.
