Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has praised Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal but ruled out signing the teenage star, insisting that his squad already contains the players he needs.
Mourinho was asked whether he would consider bringing Yamal to Real Madrid. While acknowledging the youngster's quality, the Portuguese coach made it clear that he would not pursue a deal.
“He's a very good player, but no. We already have the best players,” Mourinho said, according to a quote shared by transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Yamal has established himself as one of the most highly rated young players in world football and remains a key figure for Barcelona. His performances have attracted widespread praise, including from opponents and rival managers.
Mourinho's comments come as Real Madrid prepare for the new La Liga campaign under his second spell in charge of the Spanish giants. The club is looking to challenge Barcelona after the Catalan side dominated the previous campaign.
The Portuguese manager has already been involved in significant transfer discussions since returning to Madrid. He recently revealed that Real Madrid made a strong attempt to sign Spain midfielder Rodri before the player eventually joined Barcelona.
Despite his admiration for Yamal, Mourinho appears satisfied with the attacking options already available to him and does not see the Barcelona winger as a necessary addition to his squad.
