The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has remained silent on Governor Ademola Adeleke’s reported congratulatory call following the election, while expressing concern over alleged attacks on his supporters.
Adeleke emerged victorious in the governorship election, defeating Oyebamiji in a closely contested race.
Following the result, Adeleke reached out to Oyebamiji in what was seen as an effort to encourage political reconciliation and promote peace after the election.
However, Oyebamiji did not publicly respond to the governor’s congratulatory gesture. Instead, he focused his message on appreciating APC members, campaign volunteers and supporters who stood behind his candidacy during the election.
The APC candidate acknowledged the outcome of the poll and thanked those who contributed to his campaign, while stressing the importance of remaining calm following the declaration of the result.
Oyebamiji also raised concerns over alleged attacks involving some of his supporters after the election.
He called on security agencies to investigate the incidents and take appropriate steps to prevent further violence or confrontation between political supporters in the state.
The APC candidate urged his supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding despite the political tensions surrounding the election.
He also encouraged party members not to lose faith in the political process, saying that the issues and development agenda that formed the basis of his campaign remained important to the people of Osun State.
The development comes as political stakeholders continue to appeal for calm and reconciliation following the governorship election.
With the election now concluded, attention is expected to shift toward maintaining peace in the state and ensuring that political differences do not result in further attacks or confrontation among supporters of the various parties.
