Friends and colleagues of Nigerian dancer and socialite Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, have rallied around him following his detention in the United Kingdom over an alleged assault offence.
Poco Lee is currently being held on remand in a UK prison and is expected to appear before Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on September 15, 2026, for a plea hearing, according to Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of the community of Nigerians in the UK.
Following news of his detention, several of Poco Lee’s friends took to social media to express their support and urge the public not to rush to judgment while the legal process is ongoing.
Filmmaker TG Omori described Poco Lee as a kind-hearted person and said he was saddened by the situation. He later clarified that his comments should not be interpreted as support for sexual offences or opposition to justice.
Socialite Rahman Jago also expressed his support for the dancer, describing him as a man with a good heart and saying it was painful to see him facing such a serious situation.
Meanwhile, Kuti said he planned to attend Poco Lee’s court proceedings as part of his efforts to support Nigerians facing legal challenges in the UK. He stressed that the legal process should be allowed to take its course and that everyone remains innocent until proven guilty.
Reports of Poco Lee’s alleged detention began circulating online on August 19. Early reports contained limited details about the alleged offence, while subsequent reports confirmed that he was on remand and had a court date scheduled for September.
The development has generated significant discussion among fans and entertainment figures, with supporters calling for caution and fairness as the case proceeds through the British legal system.
