Police Arrest 22-Year-Old Man Over Alleged Defilement of 15-Year-Old in Ogun

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a 22-year-old man identified simply as Daniel over the alleged drugging and defilement of a 15-year-old girl in Ogun State.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday, saying the suspect allegedly gave the teenager a malt drink containing an unknown substance, after which she reportedly lost consciousness.

According to the police, Daniel allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with the girl while she was unconscious and unable to give consent.

Following the incident, the teenager was taken to the Olukoye Ransome-Kuti Memorial Hospital in Asero for medical examination, while police operatives took the suspect into custody.

The police said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Ogun State, where detectives are conducting further investigations.

The police have not disclosed the exact circumstances surrounding the alleged incident, including the relationship between the suspect and the teenager or where it allegedly occurred.

Daniel remains in police custody as investigators work to establish the facts of the case and determine the appropriate charges.

The arrest forms part of a series of operations recently reported by the Nigeria Police Force across several states, involving allegations ranging from sexual offences and murder to kidnapping and other crimes.

The police have not said when the suspect will be arraigned in court.

As investigations continue, the allegations against Daniel remain unproven in court, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
