TASFUED Unveils Major Administrative Overhaul to Strengthen University Operations

The management of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED), Ogun State, has announced a major administrative overhaul aimed at improving efficiency, strengthening institutional structures and positioning the university for sustained growth.

The development comes as the university continues its transition into a federal institution following the Federal Government’s adoption of the former Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED). The institution is now officially known as Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, TASFUED.

The latest administrative changes are part of efforts by the university management to establish a more effective structure capable of supporting its expanded responsibilities as a federal university.

TASFUED is currently headed by Professor Samuel Ekundayo Oladipo, who assumed office as the institution’s Vice-Chancellor on May 5, 2026. Oladipo, a Professor of Social Psychology and foundation faculty member of the university, was appointed by the institution’s Governing Council after a competitive process.

The new management has placed emphasis on strengthening administrative processes, improving coordination across various units and creating an environment that supports teaching, research and innovation.

The overhaul also comes at a time when TASFUED is preparing for the 2026/2027 academic session. The university recently inspected renovated academic buildings to assess the quality and completion of infrastructure projects funded through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund’s 2025 Project Maintenance Intervention.

Professor Oladipo said the university would continue to prioritise the maintenance and upgrading of its facilities while ensuring that infrastructure investments translate into better conditions for teaching, learning and research.

The management has also reiterated its commitment to digital innovation, research excellence and student success as key components of its vision for the institution.

The university's transformation into a federal institution followed the Federal Government’s adoption of TASUED in March 2025. Ogun State subsequently formally handed over the university to the Federal Government through a Memorandum of Understanding signed during the institution’s 17th convocation ceremony.

The transition has created new administrative and institutional responsibilities for the university as it adjusts to its federal status.

TASFUED has also been strengthening collaboration with local stakeholders. In July, the university and Odogbolu Local Government Area reaffirmed their partnership on improving security within and around the university community.

The university management said its broader objective is to build an institution capable of providing quality teacher education while producing graduates equipped with the skills and values required to compete in a rapidly changing global environment.

The administrative overhaul is therefore expected to support the university’s transition, improve service delivery and reinforce accountability across its operations.

With the 2026/2027 academic session approaching, attention is now focused on how the new administrative structure will translate into improved experiences for students, staff and other stakeholders.

TASFUED management has assured parents, guardians, returning students and prospective students that the institution remains committed to providing a safe, conducive and student-friendly environment.
