Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City for an initial fee of £75 million, with the transfer potentially rising to £85 million if performance-related add-ons are met.
The 22-year-old, who will be known as Sávio at Tottenham, has signed a long-term contract with the North London club as new manager Roberto De Zerbi continues his aggressive rebuilding of the squad. Tottenham officially confirmed the transfer on Tuesday, August 25, bringing an end to a pursuit that had stretched across two transfer windows.
The deal represents another major investment by Spurs during a remarkable summer transfer window. The club's spending has now moved beyond £300 million as De Zerbi looks to transform a team that finished 17th in the Premier League last season.
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham will initially pay £75 million for Sávio, while another £10 million is available through add-ons. Around £5 million of those potential bonuses are understood to be effectively guaranteed, meaning Manchester City could receive at least £80 million from the transfer.
Sávio becomes one of the most expensive players in Tottenham's history and the latest statement signing of the De Zerbi era. His arrival follows the club's recruitment of several high-profile players, including Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, as Spurs attempt to dramatically improve their fortunes after consecutive 17th-place Premier League finishes.
The Brazilian winger arrives at Tottenham after two seasons with Manchester City. He made 84 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and providing 16 assists, but struggled to establish himself as a consistent first-choice player.
