Nigerian Army troops have neutralised a suspected terrorist during a clearance operation in Katsina State, recovering weapons and other military equipment from the area.
The operation was conducted by troops of the Nigerian Army as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks operating across communities in the state.
During the operation, soldiers reportedly encountered armed terrorists and engaged them in a gun battle. One of the suspected terrorists was killed, while others reportedly fled into surrounding areas.
Troops subsequently recovered machine guns and other items believed to have been in the possession of the fleeing group. The recovered weapons are expected to assist security agencies in ongoing efforts to trace and disrupt the activities of criminal elements operating in the area.
The military has continued to intensify operations across Katsina and other parts of the North-West in response to attacks, kidnappings and other violent crimes attributed to armed groups.
Security forces have also urged residents to provide timely information on the movement of suspected criminals and other suspicious activities in their communities.
The latest operation underscores the continued military push to deny armed groups freedom of movement and access to weapons in affected areas.
