Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has endorsed Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for a second term in office, praising his performance and describing him as one of the country’s outstanding governors.
Zulum made the endorsement during a visit to Kebbi State, where he commended Idris for what he described as significant achievements since assuming office.
The Borno governor said Idris had performed beyond expectations, noting that his administration had made visible progress in different sectors of the state.
Zulum specifically described Idris as one of the best-performing governors in Nigeria and expressed confidence in his ability to continue delivering development to the people of Kebbi.
The endorsement comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with governors and political parties already positioning themselves for the next electoral cycle.
Governor Idris has already secured the backing of the All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State. In May, delegates from all 225 wards in the state unanimously affirmed him as the APC’s governorship candidate for a second term.
Following his endorsement by the party, Idris pledged to consolidate the achievements recorded during his first term and accelerate development across Kebbi.
He has also received support from various groups within the state, including youth organisations that have cited his administration’s interventions in agriculture, healthcare, education and security as reasons for seeking continuity.
Zulum’s endorsement adds to the growing political support for Idris ahead of the 2027 election and further strengthens the governor’s position within the APC as preparations for the contest gather momentum.
