NYSC Fixes September 8 Date for Foreign-Trained Graduates’ Physical Verification

 The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced September 8 to 12, 2026, for the physical verification of credentials and travel documents of foreign-trained Nigerian graduates preparing for the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I service year.

The verification exercise is specifically for prospective corps members whose credentials and travel documents are yet to undergo physical verification. The NYSC announced the dates in a post on its official social media channel on Thursday and directed affected graduates to report strictly according to the date, time and venue stated on their verification slips.

The scheme said the arrangement is intended to ensure an orderly exercise and prevent overcrowding at the designated centres. The verification will take place at nine centres across the country, located in Enugu, Bauchi, the Federal Capital Territory, Kano, Lagos, Osun, Rivers, Sokoto and Adamawa.

The designated centres are the NYSC Secretariat, 2 Abakaliki Road, GRA, Enugu; Shadawanka Military Barracks, Bauchi; NYSC Orientation Camp, Kubwa, Abuja; Bukavu Military Barracks, Fagge, Airport Road, Kano; and NYSC Orientation Camp, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos.

Other locations are the NYSC Secretariat, New Ikirun Road, Osogbo, Osun State; NYSC Secretariat, 40 Ikwerre Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State; Eagle Officers’ Mess, Giginya Cantonment, Gusau Road, Sokoto; and the NYSC Secretariat at the Federal Secretariat Complex, Yola, Adamawa State.

Prospective corps members are required to appear with the original copies of all academic credentials and travel documents uploaded, or expected to be uploaded, during their online registration. This means candidates should ensure that the documents they present correspond with the information submitted during the registration process.

Medical graduates have additional requirements. The NYSC directed them to upload their professional licences, registration certificates and other relevant documents issued by their respective professional regulatory bodies. They are also expected to bring the original copies to their assigned verification centres.

The scheme also instructed affected graduates to submit original copies of Evaluation Letters issued by the Federal Ministry of Education at the NYSC Headquarters in Abuja, while acknowledged copies are to be uploaded online.

The NYSC emphasised that physical presence is essential to the verification process. Only prospective corps members who are physically seen with their credentials, successfully verified and cleared will be considered for deployment, exemption or exclusion from national service.

The requirement reflects the NYSC’s efforts to authenticate the qualifications and travel documentation of Nigerians who obtained their degrees outside the country before they are processed for national service. The scheme has previously identified the presentation of fake credentials by foreign-trained graduates as one of the challenges confronting the mobilisation process.

For graduates affected by the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I exercise, the immediate priority is therefore to check their verification slips carefully, attend at the assigned centre on the specified date and time, and arrive with all required original documents.

The verification exercise will begin on Tuesday, September 8, and end on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Graduates who have not yet undergone the required physical verification should take the NYSC deadline seriously because successful physical verification and clearance are prerequisites for consideration for deployment, exemption or exclusion from national service.
