Oluyede made the declaration after meeting Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji in Lagos, where he said political differences should not prevent leaders from working together for the development of the state and the country. He described the engagement as part of efforts to promote cooperation among Ekiti stakeholders ahead of the next presidential election.
The PDP chieftain said his mobilisation plan would involve reaching voters directly across Ekiti’s 16 local government areas. He said the campaign would include engagements with traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, women, professionals, business owners and other stakeholders.
Oluyede said the objective was to build support for Tinubu beyond party lines, arguing that political competition should not prevent Ekiti leaders from cooperating on issues affecting the state and the nation.
“We may belong to different political parties, but at the end of the day, we are Ekiti people,” Oluyede said, stressing that political disagreements should not become personal conflicts.
He added that his team would embark on grassroots engagement, including house-to-house and community-level mobilisation, as part of efforts to convince residents to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
The development represents an unusual political alignment, as Oluyede contested the Ekiti governorship election under the PDP platform but has now declared support for Tinubu, who belongs to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Supporters of Tinubu in Ekiti have continued to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of 2027. Other groups in the state have also announced similar targets, with some campaign organisations aiming to deliver up to 90 per cent of Ekiti votes to the president.
However, achieving such a target will depend on several factors, including voter turnout, public opinion, economic conditions and the strength of opposition parties during the election period.
Political analysts have often noted that ambitious vote targets announced by campaign groups are usually expressions of political confidence rather than guaranteed election outcomes. Actual election results are determined by voters at the polling units.
For now, Oluyede’s declaration adds another layer to the growing political realignment ahead of the 2027 presidential contest, as politicians across party lines begin positioning themselves for the election.
