The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of his close political ally and former National Vice-Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dan Orbih.
Wike described Orbih as a true friend, trusted associate and committed political figure whose contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development would not be forgotten.
In a condolence message, the FCT minister said he was deeply saddened by the news of Orbih’s death, noting that their relationship went beyond politics.
“I lost a true friend,” Wike said, while recalling the bond they shared over the years.
Orbih, a former Chairman of the PDP in Edo State and a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, was widely recognised for his long involvement in party affairs and political mobilisation.
Wike said Orbih remained committed to the principles he believed in and consistently demonstrated courage in defending his political positions.
The minister extended his condolences to Orbih’s immediate family, friends, political associates and the people of Edo State, praying that God would grant them the strength to cope with the loss.
He also described Orbih’s death as a significant loss to the political community, particularly those who worked closely with him over the years.
Orbih's political career spanned several decades, during which he occupied prominent positions within the PDP and played important roles in political activities in Edo State and at the national level.
His death is expected to generate further reactions from political leaders across party lines as tributes continue to pour in.
Wike urged Orbih’s family and associates to take comfort in his contributions to public life and the memories he left behind.
