Nollywood faith-based film Agbara Nla: The Return has grossed ₦408.3 million at the Nigerian box office, becoming the highest-grossing faith-based film of all time, according to its distributor, Nile Entertainment.
The distributor announced the milestone on Monday, October 26, 2026, saying the film had remained the number-one title at the Nigerian box office for four consecutive weekends. It also described the production as the highest-grossing film ever released in October and the second-highest-grossing Nollywood title of 2026.
The latest figure represents a significant increase from the ₦354.5 million reported on October 20, highlighting the film’s continued commercial success since its cinema release on October 1.
Agbara Nla: The Return is a modern remake of the 1993 Christian film created by veteran filmmaker Mike Bamiloye. The original production became a notable work in Nigeria’s faith-based film industry, and the remake has attracted audiences familiar with the classic as well as a new generation of cinema-goers.
The new film was directed by Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, popularly known as Jay Mikee. It was produced with the involvement of Mount Zion Film Productions, Sozo Films and Circuits, while Nile Entertainment handles its theatrical distribution.
The story follows believers who enter a community under the influence of a powerful traditional figure and face opposition as they seek to spread their Christian faith. Mike Bamiloye also reprises his role as Isawuru in the new production.
The film’s performance demonstrates the commercial potential of faith-based Nigerian cinema beyond the traditional festive-season release window. Its October success also places it among the strongest-performing Nollywood films of the year.
Although Agbara Nla: The Return has established new milestones within its category, it remains behind Call of My Life in the overall 2026 Nollywood box-office rankings, according to the latest reports.
The film continues to screen in cinemas across Nigeria, and its total earnings may rise further as its theatrical run continues.
